Wind Farm Mountain Bike Riding

A fantastic ride and a must do for keen mountain bike riders, also suitable for more experienced riders. Distance of 41km ride. Caution needs to be taken in rough weather conditions, It is not recommended you do it if the wind is up. It is also not recommended that you bike through the Manawatu Gorge so you may need to arrange transport for drop off.

Access is on Hall Block Road, at Ballance, through the Manawatu Gorge. Up Hall Block Road, a steep climb for over 6km to reach the first of the wind turbines. Go through the gate and continue through the wind farms (you will go through a few gates, please leave these as you find them). Once you get to the Pahiatua Track, turn right to head back to Palmerston North or left to go south to Pahiatua.
