Freedom Camping

Tararua has a permissive policy allowing freedom camping by self-contained motorcaravans on all Council land, with the following provisions:

Towed caravans are permitted provided that they are self-contained
No tent camping shall be permitted
Overnight parking by self-contained motor caravans will be allowed except in prohibited areas
Permits shall not be necessary
Camping is permitted in reserves managed by boards at their discretion
Long term camping is not permitted
Owners shall be required to abide by the Council's dog control policy and by-law in force.
