1+ hour drive from Dannevirke
- Head east from Dannevirke on Miller Street - this becomes Weber Road
- At the end of Weber Road, veer right onto Route 52 (going straight ahead on Route 52 at this point will take you towards Wimbledon and Herbertville)
- Turn left onto River Road
- At the bridge that crosses the Ākitio River, the road becomes Coast Road
- The freedom camping site is on the left, just as you begin to see houses (on the right) and before the public toilets (at the split in the road)
